Collaborators convene for annual ChiLTERN meeting-November 2017

From 28th – 29th November 2017, ChiLTERN successfully hosted international collaborators at the Greater Birmingham West Midlands Brussels Office in Belgium. The first day was dedicated to management meetings with the PHITT Trial Steering Committee, ChiLTERN External Advisory Board and finally the ChiLTERN Internal Project Board. Some constructive suggestions were made throughout the day including setting trial deadlines and not using acronyms to external stakeholders.

On the evening of Tuesday 28th November, it was delightful to see so many international colleagues join us for a working dinner at a nearby restaurant. There were representatives from the UK, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Sweden, Japan, Poland, the Netherlands and Switzerland all talking about ChiLTERN and how it will work in their country.

Wednesday 29th November took a similar agenda to the previous year’s launch meeting with work package lead updates in the morning followed by a CINECA demonstration and finally, PHITT trial practicalities. Around 45 people attended with representation from the majority of ChiLTERN beneficiaries.

ChiLTERN has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No. 668596.

Through such collaborative work, ChiLTERN will aim to cure more children with liver cancer, expose fewer children to toxic chemotherapy and ensure their surgery is both effective and safe. For more information, contact project manager Rajdhir Dhanda by email at r.dhanda@bham.ac.uk.
