Follow Emily at Stratford

Following the announcement at the beginning of October that Emily Millward was stepping down from the BE organizing group we took the opportunity to ask how things were going:

‘I am now settled in my new role as Museum Collections Assistant at the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust. The position was originally fixed-term for 1 year but just last month was made permanent. I assist the museum officer and access and interpretation team in the day-to-day running of the collections including preparing and installing exhibitions, research and documentation, and answering enquiries from scholars and the general public. My primary responsibility is the care of the museum collection and I personally manage the environmental monitoring across the Trust’s five historic houses (including Shakespeare’s Birthplace) and our storage facilities. I thoroughly enjoy my role as it is diverse, challenging and is helping me to build the necessary skills I need for my future plans of becoming a curator’.
