With the start of the new academic year it is a chance to get involved with Birmingham Egyptology and join us for the first events of the year!
Our shabti project is restarting as we are soon hoping to be able to access the Eton-Myers collection after a pandemic-induced hiatus. Details of that can be found in the post below, but it provides an opportunity to all students to support Birmingham Egyptology and the Eton-Myers curator at the University ensure that we properly catalogue and detail the shabtis on loan to the University.
Our first session (in-person and online!) of the Birmingham Egyptology forum will be on Friday 1st October at 5pm (Location TBA) and will be a session to introduce the key people involved, explain what we have planned and a chance to meet other students, staff, and alumni interested in the study of Egypt.
We also have the topic of our second which will be Jennifer Turner, one of the PhD students at the university, talking about her current role at the British Museum on the statues project. Date and Time will be announced here soon!
If you are interested in any of these and would like to get involved or join our mailing list to be updated on our upcoming sessions then either let Edward know or send an email to submissions.bejournal@gmail.com
