Adam Jackson

Adam Jackson is a 4th year undergraduate student studying an MEng in Nuclear Engineering. He has had an interest in nuclear power and engineering since before university and strongly believes that nuclear power is vital in fighting the climate crisis. He chose to do the MEng Nuclear Engineering to learn more about this subject and advance his understanding of physics and materials science.

Project: Investigating NbTiVZr type High Entropy Alloys (HEAs)

He is looking into bcc HEA for potential use as cladding material in GEN IV nuclear fission reactors. Three different HEA’s are investigated, with XRD, SEM and hardness measurements taken in the as-cast and homogenised condition. Three-point bend measurements will also be used to determine mechanical properties.
