BCC-SNOW: BCC Superalloy Network Opening Workshop

BCC-SNOW:

BCC Superalloy Network Opening Workshop

Thursday 8 to Friday 9 February 2024

Plansee, Reutte, Austria

Date: Thursday 8 to Friday 9 February 2024

Venue: Plansee Reutte, Austria

Organisers: Sandy Knowles & Christopher Zenk, co-sponsered by Plansee

Bcc-superalloys are a nascent class of material, with a microstructure template of a body-centered-cubic matrix (eg refractory metal, Fe, Ti) reinforced by ordered-bcc superlattice precipitates (eg B2 NiAl), with analogy to the highly successful gamma gamma-prime in fcc nickel based superalloys. Bcc-superalloys offer a new design approach toward improved performance for a variety of high temperature applications, from gas turbines to fusion energy.

This 1.5-day workshop seeks to bring together this growing community, with topics including, but not limited to: refractory metal bcc-superalloys (e.g. for W), bcc refractory metal high entropy superalloys (RSAs and Naka+Khan type RHEAs), Beta-Ti superalloys, Cr bcc-superalloys, Ferritic superalloys, A2-B2 eutectics / composites.

Plansee SE, a member of the Plansee Group, is one of the world’s leading suppliers of the high-technology materials Mo and W – from powder production through powder-metallurgical processes to the customers-specific processing and recycling of these materials. Plansee SE has more than 3000 employees, >800 M€ sales and a market share >30%. The products are used by customers in advanced industries and are key to today’s and tomorrow’s high-tech products.
