Cole Roberts

Cole joined the MEng Nuclear Engineering Programme in 2021 due to this interest in reactor systems, particularly those involving submarines. During the summer of 2023, he worked as a reactor physicist in a summer internship with Rolls Royce, where he assisted in improving the design of a commissioning core for a zero-energy test reactor.

His current project involves conducting evaluations of reported ternary phase relationships of Fe-Al-V systems via the use of diffusion couples and traditional characterisation techniques including XRD, SEM and Micro-hardness testing. This aims to provide experimental data that can then be used to better improve modelling of respective Fe-Al-V systems.
