Axele Giroud
Dr Axele Giroud is Professor of International Business and Head of the Comparative and International Business Group at the Alliance Manchester Business School. She has held positions as Senior Economist with UNCTAD (United Nations Conference on Trade and Development), Researcher with the University of Paris I, Panthéon-Sorbonne (France), Senior Lecturer at Bradford University (U.K.), Visiting Professor with the University of Gothenburg (Sweden), with Rennes School of Business (France), and she is past-President of the Euro-Asia Management Studies Association (EAMSA). She regularly acts as expert for various international organisations (eg. WTO, the World Bank and the United Nations). She is Area Editor for the Journal of International Business Policy, and Senior Editor for the International Business Review journal, and she sits on the editorial boards of four other scientific journals.
Professor Giroud has published widely in top tiers journals on issues pertaining with international business, global strategies, Multinationals’ impact on host countries’ sustainable development, business in and from emerging markets, and technology and knowledge transfer. She has completed several funded research projects (eg. by the Japanese Bank for International Cooperation, the British Department for International Development, the ASEAN Secretariat, and the United Nations). Her latest large-scale project “MNEDEVELOP” – funded by ESRC and FAPESP – focuses on MNEs’ contributions to the UN SDGs through activities with multiple stakeholders from marginalised communities in Latin America.
