Italy holds imam wanted on Moroccan terror charges

Italian police have arrested a Muslim imam from Morocco, for being linked to suicide bombings in Morocco in 2003. Abdelmajid Zergout, imam of a mosque in the Northern Italian city of Varese, was previously arrested in 2005 along with two others on suspicion of raising funds and recruiting for the Moroccan Islamic Combatant Groups. The organization was blamed for the 2003 Casablanca attacks which killed dozens of people. After his arrest, Zergout has agreed to be extradited to Morocco where he will then defend himself against terrorism charges linked to the bombings.
