Welcome to CREMS

The Centre for Reformation and Early Modern Studies (CREMS) at the University of Birmingham connects a host of researchers who study all aspects of the early modern period: society, politics, religion, economics, colonisation, language, linguistics, literature, diplomacy, transcultural interactions and much more! Our objective is to create a vibrant community of scholars inside and outside the university who, together, can produce a plethora of research and ideas which transform our understandings of life in the early modern period.

This blog showcases those ideas and that research, with scholars reflecting on their trips to archives, the latest scholarship, Birmingham initiatives, and collaborations between CREMS and other early modern scholars.

If you’d like to get involved with CREMS or create a post for us to share, please contact Dr Katie Bank or Dr Simon Smith (the current chairs of CREMS) at: k.n.bank@bham.ac.uk or s.c.smith@bham.ac.uk, or Nathan Jopling (Doctoral Researcher) at: NTJ795@student.bham.ac.uk
