CNL is part of the <a href=\"https:\/\/milabuob.github.io\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/milabuob.github.io\/\">Medical Imaging Lab (MILab)<\/a>  in turn part of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.birmingham.ac.uk\/research\/activity\/computer-science\/computational-life-sciences\/index.aspx\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.birmingham.ac.uk\/research\/activity\/computer-science\/computational-life-sciences\/index.aspx\">Computational Life Sciences<\/a> research theme of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.birmingham.ac.uk\/schools\/computer-science\/index.aspx\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.birmingham.ac.uk\/schools\/computer-science\/index.aspx\">School of Computer Science<\/a> at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.birmingham.ac.uk\/index.aspx\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.birmingham.ac.uk\/index.aspx\">University of Birmingham<\/a>. The lab was founded in Sep 2021 and is lead by <a href=\"https:\/\/more.bham.ac.uk\/cnl\/felipe-orihuela-espina\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"39\">Dr Felipe Orihuela-Espina<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At CNL we develop models and analysis tools to understand the neural system. This involves multidisciplinary research from computing (mainly), mathematics and statistics, and a bit of physics and neuroscience. We focus on mathematical and computational questions such as manifold modelling and causality that have implications for both segregational and integrational neuroscientific questions.
