Development of the Centre for Musculoskeletal Ageing Research (CMAR) into an internationally functioning institute will be enhanced by strategic collaborations with other world-leading centres of ageing research excellence.

In the UK:

MRC-Arthritis Research UK Centre for Integrated Research into Musculoskeletal Ageing (CIMA)

The Kennedy Institute of Rheumatology at Oxford University

Centre for Healthy Ageing at Copenhagen University

Institute on Aging, at the University of Florida (LIFE study)

University of Houston

University of California, Berkeley

University of California, Davis

Guangzhou University

University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign

Industrial collaborators:

We have secured agreement from several pharmaceutical (GSK, Novartis), nutritional (Abbott, Nestle) and lifestyle (HUR, Move it or Lose it) partners to collaborate on research

To strengthen our links all CMAR-funded PhD students can spend up to 1 year at one of the collaborating institutes or industrial partners listed above. We also have a pump priming activity fund to allow early career researchers and junior faculty to set up collaborations with these same units.
