Gregory<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\" align=\"center\"><b>The role of the <\/b><b><i>Iwn-mwt.f <\/i><\/b><b>in the New Kingdom monuments of Thebes. <\/b><em>BMSAES<\/em> \u00a020: 25-46.<\/p>\n<p>Abstract<\/p>\n<p>While clearly recognised as an aspect of the god, Horus, scholars often identify the <i>Iwn- mwt.f <\/i>as a human ritual functionary who is frequently assigned the title \u2018priest.\u2019 The \u00a0 contexts in which representations of the \u00a0<i>Iwn-mwt.f<\/i> survive \u2013 monumental stone reliefs with apparent sacerdotal connotations \u2013 has influenced this interpretation. Nevertheless, the themes depicted on the buildings in question in fact reflect the political ideology of the pharaonic state, particularly as it relates to the office of kingship, not a religious doctrine.
