ab-is-vertically-aligned-center\">\r\n<div class=\"ab-block-layout-column-inner\">\r\n<p>Michael\u2019s current project is about four creatures \u2013 eels, moths, freshwater mussels and crickets \u2013 that are disappearing from Britain, and about the people who love and care for them.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>The project takes the view that animals are not only present in places, but co-creators of a place\u2019s presence, and that, as these world-making beings disappear, the human imagination is altered as much as physical landscapes are.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Alongside this narrative of loss, however, the project is also about the hope and wonder these animals can inspire in us and about their capacity to flourish again in damaged or neglected places.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>The book is provisionally entitled <em>Late Light <\/em>and a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thewillowherbreview.com\/night-fishing-michael-malay\">section from the
